Miyuki Beads: Perfect shape from love to brooches

Miyuki is a fairly common Japanese female name. It hides in itself several meanings, such as deep snow or glamorous luck. What makes the beads that bear this mysterious name exceptional and why are they ideal for making SKVOST brooches and earrings?

Get to know the Miyuki beads, please

The Japanese company Miyuki has a patented premium brand called "Seed Bead.” When we take a closer look at both words, "seed" means grain or fleck, and "bead" is thought to be a small pearl.

In a broader sense, "Seed Bead" refers to any small bead that can have any shape, from round to hexagonal to triangular.

A man who is excited by perfection

Glass beads immediately raised interest in Seiichi Katsuok, the founder of the Miyuki brand. It was love at first glance. Since 1949 he has been dedicated to the production procedures of beads.

The sense of brilliance, beauty and enthusiasm for the resplendent elements was inherited by his son Hiroshi. He was not afraid to modernize production and invest in innovation. As a result, production was incomparably higher. Because of that, Japan became the first mass bead producer.

To this day, Myuki beads are considered to be the top standard for their quality, gloss and uniform shape. They enjoy recognition among artists, in the fashion and jewellery industries, as well as in necklace, earring and brooch production.

Precision during the birth of beads

The first step is producing the glass itself. The raw materials are mixed with dyes and placed in an oven that is heated up to 1400 ° C. Next, melted glass is produced. This must then be shaped into glass tubes.

During the formation into tubes, melt passes through specially designed holes that form the shape of the beads. The tubes are then cut into smaller pieces. Then they are mixed with carbon powder and heated up to 700 ° C in order to form a round grain shape.

After rinsing the remaining carbon, the surface of the beads is enhanced by silver, dyeing, rainbowing, etc.

We use Myuki beads with pride in our brooches

Thanks to the careful production, Miyuki beads not only all have the same shape, but also uniform coloring. They are simply the best.

Every single brooch from Skvost is made with a sensitivity to and care for every detail, so it is essential to use quality elements such as Miyuki beads. You can be sure that our brooches and earrings will last for several generations.

Do not hesitate to present those closest to you with a stunning brooch made of Miyuka beads. Thanks to their perfection and durability, you will be able to give them a unique piece of jewellery with a tradition that will be passed on for generations to come.
